PARDON OUR DUST AS WE ARE EXPANDING OUR SERVICE AREA

In June of 2012, FITE Center for Independent Living, which covered Kane, Kendall & McHenry Counties closed its doors. As a result our Center has expanded services into Kane & Kendall Counties, while Lake County Center for Independent Living has expanded services to cover McHenry County. Due to the expansion of multiple counties, we will be opening a satellite office in the Kane County area of Aurora Illinois (target date by mid to late November).

Our Center is also planning to change our name to encompass the two additional Counties as we no longer serve just "DuPage". Once the logistics are complete, it is our intent to call ourselves "Achieving Independence and Mobility" Center for Independent Living (AIM CIL for short). This name will be unique to our Center.

During this transition, continuing to serve our consumers as efficiently and effectively is our top priority.  We will continue to provide the same quality services that many of you have become accustomed to over the past 21 years to our existing consumers in the DuPage County area and are excited about providing services to our new consumers in Kane & Kendall Counties!

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this exciting transition!

Best regards,
Leigh Ann Stephens, Executive Director

Welcome to the DuPage Center for Independent Living. Our mission is to empower persons with disabilities to effectively control and direct their lives.  The Center provides leadership through training, community development, and advocacy to enable persons with disabilities to fully participate in family, social, and community life.

INDEPENDENT LIVING PHILOSOPHY: Independent Living is understood to mean that persons with disabilities are capable of controlling their own lives and participating fully in family and community activities.  All citizens, regardless of disability, have the right to a job, an education, a place to live, to go into public places, and to enjoy life to the fullest.  Citizens have the responsibility to be informed, to make their own decisions, and to help others.
